We are excited to continue our partnership with the Coalition for the Homeless.
Lab families will have the opportunity to donate backpacks and school supplies for homeless NYC students. (No child should fall behind just because his or her family can’t afford to buy pencils, notebooks and other essential supplies for school).
Our collection will launch PS77’s new initiative entitled Lower Lab Cares where the Lower Lab community will have the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of community service-based projects every month. September will be dedicated to Project Back to School! (More info on Lower Lab Cares to come…)
Many families have already purchased kits via “1st days school supplies” for Project Back To School and Lab appreciates your support. These pre-ordered kits will be delivered on September 4th. If families did not pre-order a kit there is still time to contribute! Please download the project back to school flyer and wish list!. Over the next 6 weeks families can purchase items and bring them in between September 9th and September 18th.
Thank you again for supporting Lower Lab Cares! No matter how much or how little we have, it’s always an important lesson to teach our children to give whatever they can to others in need. If we start at an early age children will grow to respect others and believe in the power of caring and giving. These values include fostering empathy, bolstering self-esteem, developing practical skills, building civic responsibility and providing a means of exploring new interests. Lets lead by example! If our kids see that our community puts a lot of value on assisting others then they will too.
