As many are aware the DOE only offers a “yellow bus” or a “metro card” to students attending public school.
The cut off however for our location is approximately 8th street. Families who live further downtown have investigated other options to get to school in the morning. Many students take a private bus that is not affiliated with the DOE Office of Transportation Yellow Bus Routes.
See below for this information and please reach out directly to these emails if you have any questions or interest. For families who want to sign up for the regular DOE bus there will be an opportunity to do this the first days of school. Please wait to connect with the office after September 8th regarding transportation.
Attention Incoming and Downtown/Eastside Families:
There are two private bus routes serving downtown and eastside families as far north as the east 60s. These morning only* buses offer more direct routes and later pick-up times than the buses organized by the Office of Pupil Transportation.
Bus #1: Serves Soho, Tribeca, Battery Park City and the Financial District. If you are interested in this bus route, please contact Maria Masi at firstname.lastname@example.org for pricing and route information.
Bus #2: Serves the Meatpacking District, Greenwich Village, Gramercy Park and Murray Hill before continuing up Third Avenue with a last stop at East 69th St. Please contact Kelly List at email@example.com for information about this route.
We are in the process of finalizing bus stops and pricing. While we can always add families later, the price will be lower if we increase the head count now. Please contact us if you are interested in joining the private bus.
* The buses run in the morning only but if there is enough interest we can look into adding afternoon service.
