Dear Lower Lab Families,
Beginning on Tuesday, October 25th Peer Mediators will be available in the cafeteria from 10:30am to 10:55am, during the lower-grade lunch period, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. When necessary, our trained fourth and fifth grade Peer Mediators will conduct mediations, at a designated-table in the cafeteria, with students in grades K-2nd who are experiencing a conflict.
On the days without the need for mediation, K-2nd grade students will be given an opportunity to get to know the Peer Mediators through small-group talks. For these small-group talks, the goal is to rotate through all of the K-2 students, offering this opportunity to 3-4 students per day. The small group talks are optional; therefore, if a child does not wish to participate and take advantage of this opportunity, he/she is not required to do so.
Upper-grade students will also have an opportunity to receive Peer Mediation. Students in 3rd-5th grade will simply need to come to the cafeteria between 10:30am to 10:55am and find the designated Peer Mediators.
We are excited about the prospects of another successful year with our Peer Mediation program! Thank you in advance for your continued support of our school and this program.
