We are excited to announce the opening of the nomination period for the New York City Department of Education’s annual Big Apple Awards, which recognize outstanding teachers who inspire students, model great teaching, and enrich their school communities. There are lots of great reasons to nominate a teacherfor the Big Apple Awards, and we need your help to highlight some of our City’s best teachers, and showcase the great work happening at your own school. Please consider making a nomination yourself, and help to spread the word to others. To make a nomination, visit http://schools.nyc.gov/bigappleawards. Nominations accepted through Monday, November 27.
Please note that you will be receiving 100 Big Apple Awards postcards at your school the week of October 9. Please distribute the postcards throughout your school community to students, families, teachers, and staff members. Everyone is welcome to nominate a teacher! Confirm with your main office that they will look out for this delivery and put it aside for you. You may also visit the Big Apple Awards webpage for additional postcards for printing and display.
If you have any questions or concerns about the postcard delivery or the Big Apple Awards program, please email TeacherExcellence@schools.nyc.gov. We can share any information about your school’s previous participation in this program, including the identification of past nominees.
