In Digital Media for December, the students will learn/review how to use google drive, google docs and slides. Class assignments will be posted on the class stream of google classroom. Students will use google apps for education to complete assignments for their classroom teachers.
In the 2nd grade, students are working on a project called Landmarks of New York City. For this project, the students will insert images from New York City into a google doc and type at least two facts (in their own words) about the image. This assignment will give the students experience inserting images into documents as well as an opportunity to practice their typing on a google doc. This project also integrates technology with class curriculum from the New York City unit.
In the 3rd grade, students are creating digital brochures about New orleans using a website called Canva. Students will log into canva using their gmail accounts and add images and catchy phrases to their six column brochure. Studnts can insert images into their brochure that represent the culture, food and history of New Orleans.
In the fourth grade, students are using the internet and google docs to write up their research projects on Native Americans. Students have used a variety of websites for research on this project. The links to the resources can be found on both 243 and 245 google classrooms. In the 5th grade, students are using digital tools such as google docs and slides for their research inquiry projects.
In computer science and robotics classes, students will participate in the Hour of Code the week of December 4th. Here’s a link to some of the activities available for students.
