Dear Lower Lab Families Grades 3-5 ONLY,
Please check the backpacks for the information sign up sheet for the Inside Broadway Program beginning February 1st – May 25th. This is a program only for grades 3-5 and will most probably have a lottery for selected students.
Hand in your interest sheet prior to January 2nd! Lottery will be pulled on January 4 to give parents enough time to sign up for the LL after school programing should their child not get selected in the lottery.
Inside Broadway – NYC Musical Mystery Melodies for Students in Grades 3-5
Inside Broadway is looking for 3rd, 4th and 5th Graders who love to sing, dance, and act! Our returning After School Theatre Program is part of a CASA (Cultural After-School Adventure)
Grant funded by the NYC Council.
Students involved in this workshop will work with Inside Broadway theatre professionals learning the skills that are required to perform in a show. Students need not have any prior experience in theatre arts to participate. We are looking for dedicated participants who are willing to make a commitment to this project.
24 Class “Building a Musical” program requires a FULL commitment.
*If you are currently attending the PTA Afterschool classes on Thursday and Friday and want to submit an application, please indicate that you have a conflict on your submission sheet
(We will consider applications on an individual basis.)
Lower Lab’s Broadway Adventure will meet 2 times a week from
2:35-4:05 PM Thursdays
Thursdays and Fridays Beginning February 1 – May 25 (Show Date)
May 25th 2018 is the date of our Final performance during the school day – at approx. 1:15 PM.
(There is no afterschool for Inside Broadway that day)
There are no classes on the following dates:
2/15, 2/16, 3/15, 3/29
We have 30-32 openings for this program. Depending on the response, a lottery for the slots may be required. Once children have been accepted into the program, Our Inside Broadway Teaching Artist will hold mini auditions for speaking parts within the musical.
During the program, children will have the opportunity to write a storyline for their review, play-supporting roles, sing in the chorus, as well as create a backdrop/setting for the musical and act as stage-managers if needed.
We are happy to report that “Mr. B” will return as one of our Inside Broadway Teaching Artists and supervise the classes. He is a highly trained professional who has theatrical background and a teaching degree.
