It is my pleasure to announce that PS 77 Lower Lab School has been named an Move-To-Improve All Star school for the 2017-18 school year. Move-To-Improve is a program that provides additional physical activity for students in their classrooms. These physical activities usually last for 5 to 10 minutes and are taught by the classroom teacher and teacher assistant.
Physical Education will be heating up in May with continued emphasis on physical activities that develop muscular endurance, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility and nutrition.
In all grade levels, students will participate in cooperative activities such as relays, parachute, tic tac toe relay and titanic challenge. These activities require students to work together to achieve a task.
In addition to cooperative games, students will practice floor hockey skills such as stick handling, passing, shooting and goalkeeping. Students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade will focus primarily on improving their skills in stations. In grades 3rd through 5th, students will play small competitive hockey games. As always, students will be expected to display Lower Lab Values such as courtesy, respect, flexibility and empathy when competing in the games.
Finally, congratulations to the 5th grade track team for their performance at Verizon Stadium on April 20th. Our next track meet will be on May 11th at Icahn Stadium. This meet will showcase our 4th grade runners.
