Transportation

All qualified students who meet the guidelines for a school bus or free Metro Card designated distances from Lower Lab are entitled to a metro card or use of the yellow school bus system. Please contact Hugues in the Main Office for information about these services. When a child is assigned to a bus route, please make note of the route and bus number of your child’s bus. Bus drivers are legally permitted to drop off children whether or not the child’s parent/caregiver is present at the bus stop. Most drivers will not do that, especially with young students. Instead they will continue their route and bring the child back to the stop at a later time, or bring the child back to school. Introduce yourself to the driver on the first day, find out his drop off procedure if the parent/caregiver is late and get his cell phone number if available. OPT Customer Service Agents are available Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at (718) 392-8855 and PupilTransportationTeam@schools.nyc.gov to answer questions, take service complaints, and provide information for parents and schools. schools.nyc.gov/Offices/Transportation/default.htm
